CHAOS hit Bristol Airport after all flights were suspended, leaving travellers stuck and inbound planes forced to change course.

According to a new report, the shutdown is down to “emergency repairs” needed on the runway. The pause on flying is expected to last until at least 6am, instantly turning a standard travel night into a messy waiting game.

The human fallout sounded immediate. Passengers were described as being left “screaming” as cancellations landed and plans unravelled in real time — the kind of airport moment that can swing from mild inconvenience to full-blown meltdown in minutes.

Meanwhile, the knock-on effects rippled beyond Bristol. Airport Webcams posted on X that inbound flights were being diverted to London Gatwick, Birmingham and Cardiff, sending arrivals elsewhere around the country and effectively exporting the disruption to other terminals.
