QUIETLY, after years of frostiness and public fall-out, Prince Harry and King Charles have reunited in the UK — and this time it wasn’t just a formal royal event.

Harry and Meghan Markle brought their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, over for a visit that included Diana’s ancestral home. They also met with Charles and Queen Camilla, with a source saying the focus was simple: personal time with the grandchildren, kept “lighthearted and positive”, with nothing else on the agenda.

The get-together comes after a long stretch of strain that ramped up when Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals. In a March 2021 CBS interview, Harry alleged his family “literally cut” him off financially in the first quarter of 2020, saying he relied on money left by his late mother, Princess Diana, to afford security.

Harry has also claimed communication broke down badly. In that same 2021 interview, he said Charles had stopped answering his calls, adding he felt “let down” but still wanted to heal the relationship. Charles hasn’t publicly addressed the rift in detail, though he did mention his “love for Harry and Meghan” in his first address as monarch after Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

They’ve crossed paths at major moments — Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021, the late Queen’s funeral in September 2022, and Charles’ coronation in May 2023, which Harry attended alone while Meghan stayed in California with the children.

More recently, Harry visited Charles at Clarence House after Buckingham Palace announced the King had been diagnosed with cancer. Harry later said he was grateful to have seen his father and planned to visit family when travelling through the UK.

There’s also been tension around Harry’s UK security battle. After he lost a security appeal, he publicly asked for reconciliation, saying life is precious and claiming Charles “won’t speak” to him — before this latest low-key family meet-up.
