Barry Keoghan Denies Cheating on Sabrina Carpenter Amid Breakup Rumours
Key Points
BARRY Keoghan has finally spoken out about the cheating rumours swirling after his split from Sabrina Carpenter.
The Saltburn star revealed on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast that he withdrew from social media and public events to escape a false narrative.
“There was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on — a narrative that’s not true — and I never confirmed or said anything about it. And I just disappeared,” he explained.
When pressed about the cheating allegations, Keoghan said, “I’m not asking for people to become my fan and like me because that’s not normal.
“I’m asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can.”
He added, “I’m not saying this for pity.
“Why is it cool to hop on and beat someone up?”
Keoghan and Carpenter’s romance began in late 2023 but ended in December 2025, with insiders citing conflicting schedules and Carpenter’s limited time to commit.
The actor, who shares a three-year-old son with ex Alyson Sandro, deactivated his Instagram last year amid the online backlash.
“I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where too many lines are being crossed,” he wrote on X at the time.
Keoghan also revealed that a woman had posted a video fuelling the cheating rumours but later apologised, though her apology didn’t get the same attention.
He said he avoided dragging anyone else into the drama, mindful of the different reality celebrities face when dating in the public eye.
“I don’t want to ever bring anyone else into it but unfortunately, having a relationship in the public eye … it gets put out there and it’s amplified,” he said.
The actor’s frank comments offer a rare glimpse into the fallout from their high-profile split.
