DOLLY Parton has stepped up to ease tensions as Jane Fonda’s spat with Barbra Streisand heats up over comments about Robert Redford.
The country icon, who starred alongside Fonda in 9 to 5, is reportedly trying to prevent her long-time friend from spiralling amid the clash.
Sources reveal that Fonda, 88, poked fun at Streisand’s tribute to Redford at the Oscars, highlighting her own four films with him compared to Streisand’s single role in The Way We Were.
Despite Fonda’s fiery nature, Dolly, 80, remains a calming influence, known for preaching peace over conflict.
“Even on a good day, Jane can be cranky and combative,” a source told Radar Online.
“Dolly is one of the few people who can actually mitigate some of the vitriol and calm both of them down, especially Fonda.”
The source added that Fonda’s close bond with Lily Tomlin tends to fuel their outspoken attitudes, but Dolly’s humble Tennessee roots keep her grounded.
“Dolly understands that all this stuff is part of what made Jane famous, but she has enough good sense to never pour gasoline on a raging fire when it comes to dealing with Jane.”
Fonda’s representative insists there’s no feud with Streisand, but Dolly’s intervention suggests otherwise.
As these Hollywood veterans navigate their twilight years, Dolly advocates for grace and calm — a role she seems to embrace with quiet authority.
