Fox and Hulu have handed a two-season order to ‘Stewie,’ a new animated ‘Family Guy’ spinoff centreed on the franchise’s fan-favourite evil genius toddler.
Created by ‘Family Guy’ mastermind Seth MacFarlane with longtime writer-producer Kirker Butler, the series will follow Stewie as he navigates a new preschool experience — with plenty of space- and time-travel chaos along the way.
The show is currently targeting a 2027-28 premiere on Fox, with next-day streaming on Hulu and international availability on Disney+, according to Deadline.
In the new series, Stewie is forced to attend a less-than-stellar preschool after getting kicked out of his old one. There, he meets a new group of miserable kids and an elderly class turtle, then turns their dull school days into wild adventures using his signature inventions.
MacFarlane will reprise his voice role as Stewie and executive produce through Fuzzy Door alongside Butler, who will serve as showrunner, and Kara Vallow. 20th Television Animation is producing.
The spinoff marks the second ‘Family Guy’ offshoot following ‘The Cleveland Show.’ It also expands Fox’s already strong adult animation lineup, which includes ‘Family Guy,’ ‘American Dad!,’ ‘The Simpsons,’ and ‘Bob’s Burgers.’
MacFarlane celebrated the pickup with his trademark humor, joking that he was excited to begin pretending to collaborate closely with Fox on the show. Butler also praised the opportunity to build a series around one of animation’s most iconic characters.
The order arrives as ‘Family Guy’ remains a major streaming force, with billions of viewing minutes and a long-running presence across Fox, Hulu, and Disney+ platforms. Brian, Stewie’s beloved canine companion, is also expected to pop up in the new series.
For fans of Stewie’s sharp one-liners, sci-fi gadgets, and chaotic adventures, this looks like a major new chapter for the ‘Family Guy’ universe.
