TINA Fey has put the brakes on the ‘Mean Girls’ franchise for good following the 2024 musical film adaptation.

The 55-year-old comedian and actress declared at a recent HISTORYTalks event in Philadelphia, “I promise there are no more iterations coming.”

Fey, who wrote and starred in the original 2004 hit as math teacher Sharon Norbury, reflected on the franchise’s legacy and its roots in Rosalind Wiseman’s book about teenage social dynamics.

“We always, in every iteration, tried to honor the source material, which is like a sociology book about how to help girls through relational aggression and behaviours like that,” she explained.

Despite the mixed reception to the latest film, Fey expressed gratitude for the franchise’s impact, saying, “I have other things that I’d like to do.

But I have so much gratitude that this movie seemed to stick with people.”

The franchise began with the original film starring Lindsay Lohan and was followed by a TV sequel, a Broadway musical, and the 2024 reboot featuring Angourie Rice and Reneé Rapp.

Fey’s final word on the series signals a clear end to the saga that has entertained audiences for over two decades.

She even gave the franchise a cheeky nod while hosting the first-ever episode of SNL UK earlier this year, joking about her iconic role.

With no new projects in sight, it looks like the Plastics’ reign has truly ended.
