ZAYN Malik has revealed he was hospitalised with an undisclosed illness, sharing a rare glimpse of himself in a hospital bed.
The former One Direction star, 33, posted a photo showing tubes attached to his neck and arms, thanking doctors, nurses and cardiologists for their care.
He told fans he was “still recovering” and expressed heartbreak over having to cancel a UK gig at the last minute.
The cancelled show was due to take place at Banquet Records in Kingston, near London, where Zayn was set for a special concert and Q&A session.
Malik responded to the cancellation announcement, explaining he was unwell and unable to perform.
Despite the setback, Zayn is preparing for the biggest solo tour of his career, kicking off in Manchester on May 12 with 31 arena dates planned across the UK, North and South America.
The singer has been open about his struggles with anxiety, which have previously forced him to pull out of high-profile events.
In his memoir, he admitted, “Mentally, the anxiety had won. Physically, I knew I couldn’t function. I would have to pull out.”
He also stressed the importance of honesty about mental health, saying, “Anxiety is nothing to be ashamed of; it affects millions of people every day.”
Zayn’s update closed with gratitude for his fans’ support and the hospital staff who helped him, signing off, “You are all legends! Big big love xx x.”
