BOMBSHELL is the word being used for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to move back to England at the end of the month — and it could leave Prince William stuck between family duty and a frosty reality.

Royal commentator Tom Sykes says the Prince of Wales can’t realistically keep refusing to see or speak to Harry if the Duke of Sussex is back on home soil and potentially showing up at major royal moments. In Sykes’ view, it’s simply not “sustainable” long-term.

The pinch points are obvious: Christmas, Remembrance Day, and any public occasion where King Charles might invite Harry in. Sykes argues that if Charles is seen alongside Harry in public, it would be interpreted as a royal endorsement — and could pile pressure on William about how he handles his brother’s return.

Sykes also claims Harry is likely to seek the King’s support for the Invictus Games, the international multi-sport event Harry founded for wounded, injured and sick service personnel. He alleges the Games are struggling with fundraising, and suggests that a visible Charles appearance — even opening the event — could change sponsor interest overnight.

On the family front, has confirmed Harry, Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, are relocating for “an extended period.” Sources said the move is about getting the children closer to Charles — who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 — and helping them build relationships with other royals.

Sykes said Harry had been house-hunting in the Cotswolds, near Charles’ Highgrove House, and the couple are reportedly set to live in a “non-royal residence.” Charles, 77, is said to have learned of the move only this past Sunday — while William, 44, reportedly has no plans to reconnect when Harry, 41, returns.

William and Harry have been at odds since Harry and Meghan quit royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California, later making public criticisms of the family. Still, Harry and Charles have reportedly been repairing their relationship — and were said to have met up with Queen Camilla, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet for the first time in four years last month.
