BELLA RAMSEY has bought their first flat at 22 — and they’ve got mixed feelings about it.

The non-binary star, who uses they/them pronouns, says owning a small one-bedroom place in suburban London “feels very wrong” at their age, describing it as “a glitch in the system” and admitting they feel “so embarrassed” they’ve been able to do it. Ramsey puts it down to starting work at 11 and an industry that “pays people too much money”. They’re living alone and, by the sounds of it, loving it — saying they need their own space because otherwise they “meld” into the people around them.

Ramsey has been in adult working environments for half their life, after landing their first TV job as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones at 11. They were later cast as the lead in The Worst Witch, and recall being away from home for 16 weeks at that age, spending weekdays in a hotel room by themselves and feeling the responsibility of being the show’s lead.

International fame hit with The Last of Us, where Ramsey played Ellie opposite Pedro Pascal’s Joel. They say they received a formal neurodivergent diagnosis while filming season one, after long suspecting they were neurodivergent.

Next up, Ramsey stars in Sunny Dancer as Ivy, a teenage cancer survivor at a summer camp for teens who have had, or have, cancer. The film opens in UK cinemas on 14 August.

They’re also returning to teenage roles in Channel 4 thriller Maya, playing a girl forced into witness protection with her mother, played by Daisy Haggard (who also writes and co-directs). Later in the summer, Ramsey will head back to Vancouver for the third and final season of The Last of Us — with filming already under way, but Ellie absent for a period as the focus shifts to Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever.

And yes, they’ve filmed the second series of Celebrity Traitors — joining Miranda Hart, Richard E Grant, Maya Jama and Ross Kemp — after saying yes largely because they love the party game Mafia. Ramsey joked they might try to be out of the country when it airs, aware it’ll bring a burst of attention… even if, as they put it, fame tends to come and go in “two weeks”.
