SYDNEY Sweeney is stirring fresh controversy by standing her ground on a divisive American Eagle campaign.

The Euphoria star, 28, has teamed up again with the brand for the ‘Syd For Short’ denim adverts despite earlier accusations that the campaign’s slogan hinted at racial insensitivity.

Critics slammed the original ad’s line, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” as tone-deaf and linked it to troubling themes around race and privilege.

Yet Sweeney insists her partnership is about authenticity and personal style, telling fans, “What’s really fun about my partnership with American Eagle is that I am getting to show a very authentic side of who I am.”

An insider warns this move risks alienating Hollywood’s liberal circles, saying, “She seems intent on blackballing herself from Hollywood, which is filled with the kind of liberals who hated the initial American Eagle advert she was involved in.”

Sweeney has defended herself against the backlash, claiming, “I did it because I love the jeans and love the brand.

“I don’t support the views some people chose to connect to the campaign.”

She added, “Anyone who knows me knows that I’m always trying to bring people together. I’m against hate and divisiveness.”

American Eagle has also stood by the campaign, emphasising the slogan was meant to highlight the jeans, not convey any broader message.

The brand’s chief marketing officer said Sweeney was deeply involved in the creative process, calling it an “authentic” collaboration.

This saga highlights the tricky balancing act celebrities face when their personal brand becomes entwined with public scrutiny and cultural sensitivity.

For Sydney, the question remains whether her continued defence will cost her standing in the industry or simply mark her as unapologetically herself.
