STEPHEN Fry is suing the organisers of the CogX tech conference for £100,000 after a fall that left him with serious injuries.

The 68-year-old broadcaster and author plunged six feet from the stage at the O2 Arena in London last September, breaking his leg, hip and ribs.

He had just finished delivering a keynote speech on Artificial Intelligence when the accident happened as he tried to leave the stage.

Court documents claim the fall was due to negligence by the event organisers, who allegedly failed to ensure the stage and backstage areas were safe and properly lit.

Stephen’s legal team insists the injuries and subsequent losses were caused by this oversight.

CogX issued a statement saying they cannot comment while the case is ongoing but expressed concern for Stephen’s wellbeing and wished him a full recovery.

Representatives for Stephen have yet to comment, while the event’s creative agency denies any court proceedings have been served.

Stephen Fry’s case now awaits a court decision to determine liability and compensation for the accident that forced him to rely on a walking stick for months.

This legal move highlights the risks public figures face during live events and raises questions about safety standards at major conferences.
