REMEMBER David Archuleta?
Well, let’s refresh your memory! He’s the cute gay mormon kid from the 2007 season of American Idol. He’s 35 now, aging like a fine wine, and promoting his new book — Devout: Losing My Faith to Find Myself.
But don’t let the title put you off.
In the book, he talks about coming out, being raised Mormon, etc.
And in a new interview to promote his latest project — where likened penises and vaginas to “deep sea creatures” — Archuleta was asked about his views on genitalia.
“I wondered if anyone else felt the way that I did,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Then I realised that people actually really do love [dick].
“I was, like, oh?
“I didn’t know that it was a universal thing for queer men and gay men.
“I just love someone’s eyes and, of course, their facial features. I really love someone’s silhouette.
“For me, if I like someone, it’s usually because I looked in their eyes.
“But I feel like body shape is more attractive than body parts but I don’t know. It’s not something I thought about very often or noticed. Everyone has their thing.”
Why This Matters
David Archuleta’s candid comments and new memoir spotlight evolving conversations about sexuality, identity and attraction, challenging assumptions about queer desire and offering visibility for nuanced, body-positive perspectives from a high-profile former Idol contestant.
