ANNE Heche sparked a storm when she demanded an interview tape back after a tense chat about her romance with Ellen DeGeneres.

The late actress reportedly lost her cool during a 1998 interview for the Psycho remake, where whispers of an on-set fling with co-star Vince Vaughn surfaced.

Entertainment Tonight producer Fran Weinstein recalled how Heche’s jaw dropped when asked about the rumours, pleading, ‘I don’t want you to talk about it. I don’t want anybody to know about this. I don’t want my girlfriend to know about it.’

Despite assurances the topic would be dropped, Heche later stormed back demanding the tape, sparking a shouting match in the St. Regis hotel suite in New York City.

Weinstein described the heated exchange, with Heche screaming, ‘You don’t respect me! You don’t respect my girlfriend!’

The confrontation ended mysteriously when Weinstein fell asleep and woke to find the tape missing.

She later learned from a source that Heche might have instructed someone to dump the tape in a New York City sewer.

Attempts to retrieve the tape were futile, with Heche denying any knowledge and quickly leaving for Hollywood.

A representative for Heche dismissed the story as inaccurate, calling it disappointing to see untrue narratives circulate.

The bizarre episode remains a curious footnote in Heche’s career, highlighting the lengths she went to protect her private life.
