Bodyguard in Chappell Roan Hotel Drama Speaks Out, Says He Wasn’t on Her Security Team

Key Points
- Pascal Duvier accepts responsibility but says he wasn’t part of Chappell Roan’s security team.
- He claims he acted for another individual, citing hotel information and prior incidents.
- The encounter upset Jude Law’s daughter, drew Jorginho’s criticism, and prompted Chappell’s apology.
THE bodyguard at the centre of the recent Chappell Roan controversy has publicly addressed the incident, saying he takes full responsibility for what happened but was not working for the singer.
Pascal Duvier identified himself as the guard involved in the hotel lobby encounter in Brazil, where Jude Law’s 11-year-old daughter was reportedly left in tears after approaching an area near Chappell.
In a statement, Duvier said he was at the hotel on behalf of another individual and that his actions were not connected to Chappell, her management, or her personal security team.
“I take full responsibility for the interactions … I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan,” he said.
“The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.”
According to Duvier, he made a judgment call based on hotel information, prior events he had witnessed, and what he described as heightened security concerns at the location. He said his interaction with the girl’s mother was calm and well-intentioned, while also calling the outcome regrettable.
He continued, “I made a judgment call based on information we obtained from the hotel, events I had witnessed in the days prior and the heightened overall security risk of our location.
“My sole interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and the outcome of the encounter is regretful.”
The situation drew attention after the child’s stepfather, soccer star Jorginho, criticized Chappell over the incident. Chappell Roan previously apologised and said the security guard involved was not part of her team.
With Duvier now speaking publicly, his statement appears to support Chappell’s earlier version of events, while also acknowledging the distress caused by the encounter.
