Britney Spears Charged with DUI Following Rehab Check-In

BRITNEY Spears has been officially charged with driving under the influence after her arrest in March.

The pop icon was hit with a misdemeanor DUI charge by Ventura County prosecutors and is due to be arraigned on May 4, though attendance is not mandatory, Page Six reports.

Authorities say Spears was caught swerving between lanes and found with an unknown substance in her car, believed to be a mix of alcohol and drugs.

Following the incident, she made a personal decision to check into rehab on April 12 to focus on her mental health and recovery.

A source close to the singer confirmed, “This was her own choice. This isn’t about one substance in particular, it has a dual purpose….this is about Britney putting her mental health first and taking some time for herself to focus on the things that are important to her.”

Her family has been fully supportive, with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James standing by her side since the arrest.

Recovery experts stress the importance of a structured aftercare plan, warning that rehab is just the beginning of the journey.
