ALISON Hammond has secured a major new ITV hosting role with the reboot of the classic gameshow Name That Tune, raising questions about her chances of fronting Strictly Come Dancing.

The musical quiz, originally aired from 1976 to 1987 with hosts like Tom O’Connor and Lionel Blair, is set for a Saturday night slot with Alison at the helm, according to The Sun.

The This Morning favourite, 51, hinted she might be too busy to take on the BBC dance contest, and insiders say ITV are keen to keep her firmly in their camp.

A TV source revealed: “Although execs know she is free to take up offers from other channels, Alison is very much seen as an ITV face, and the channel are keen to maintain that link.

“She already hosts This Morning and For the Love of Dogs for the channel, but this would arguably be her biggest gig to date with ITV.”

The revamped Name That Tune will boast a glitzy new production, complete with a live band and fresh energy.

Alison, who also presents The Great British Bake Off and Your Song on Channel 4, admitted the show hits a personal note.

She said: “As a massive music lover, my biggest challenge as a host will be trying not to grab the mic and start singing along when one of my all-time favourite tunes comes on! And trust me… that will take serious self control!

“I grew up absolutely loving the original show so being part of this now feels like a real full-circle moment.”

The reboot joins other vintage ITV favourites making a comeback, including Bullseye with Freddie Flintoff and Wheel of Fortune with Graham Norton.

Meanwhile, other classic shows like Gladiators and Blind Date have found new homes on BBC One and Disney+, respectively.

Alison’s new gig could pit her against Strictly in a Saturday night ratings battle, making for an intriguing TV showdown.
