DAN Levy has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late Schitt’s Creek co-star Catherine O’Hara, calling her ‘magic in a bottle’ and reflecting on their unique creative bond.
The actor and co-creator of the hit sitcom revealed how Catherine’s presence and input shaped the show across its six seasons, often rewriting entire scenes to perfection.
Catherine, who played the iconic Moira Rose, passed away in January aged 71 after battling cancer and suffering a pulmonary embolism.
Dan described their work together as the ‘greatest creative partnership’ of his life, praising her confidence and clarity in every project she tackled.
“She comes into a project knowing exactly who she is, how she wants to look, what she wants to say,” he told The Times.
He added, “She was so dynamic, all you needed to do was make sure the cameras were rolling and turn on the spotlight.”
Earlier this month, Dan was visibly emotional when discussing the possibility of a Schitt’s Creek follow-up, admitting the memories of Catherine are what he holds onto most.
“It’s tough being back,” he said during an interview at the Goodwood-area boutique that stood in for his character David’s Rose Apothecary.
The four-time Emmy winner’s tribute underscores the deep creative and personal impact Catherine had on the beloved series and on him personally.
