Strictly Come Dancing Scrambles to Find New Hosts with Nine Stars Auditioning
Key Points
BBC bosses are in a last-minute scramble to secure new hosts for Strictly Come Dancing, with just five months to go before the 24th series kicks off.
Nine stars, including Rylan Clark, Emma Willis, Tom Allen, Angela Scanlon, and Alex Jones, have been called to a secret London location this week to audition in full dress rehearsals.
The auditions, held under strict NDAs, will test not just autocue skills but also chemistry and humour, vital for the live show’s energy.
Other contenders include Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh, RuPaul’s Drag Race’s La Voix, and Radio 2’s Zoe Ball.
A source told The Sun, “It’s not just about reading autocue.
“They’ll be looking at how people work together and humour is a massive part of it. There’s everything to play for.”
BBC bosses are open to keeping two female hosts or mixing things up with male or even a three-presenter line-up to refresh the show.
The pressure is on to find a pairing or team that clicks instantly and can bring the fun back to the flagship series.
With Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly having left last year after 21 years, the BBC is keen to avoid a lengthy gap without a confirmed presenting team.
The final decision is expected soon, as the network aims to restore the Strictly sparkle in time for the new series.
