KODALINE have confirmed they are splitting after 21 years together, with a farewell world tour kicking off in Belfast this June.
The Irish band, known for hits like Brand New Day and Perfect World, will release a fifth and final album before calling it quits.
Frontman Steve Garrigan told The Sun there’s no bitterness, just a natural end to their journey as the band members pursue other projects.
“We’ve played together since we were kids,” he said. “It’s over 20 years and we’re still relatively young. There’s no animosity there.”
The group will spend seven months on the road, wrapping up in December, proving they can still work closely despite parting ways.
Steve also revealed he plans to go solo after the split, describing his upcoming work as similar but distinctly his own.
Last week, Kodaline dropped We Were Only Young, their first new track in six years, which reflects on change and their loyal fanbase.
The song will feature on their final album, which Steve says he has poured a lot into, aiming to maintain the high standards their fans expect.
Kodaline’s 2013 hit All I Want remains a defining track, having surpassed a billion streams and appeared in major TV shows and films.
Steve credits that success as a key reason they’ve been able to build such a lasting career.
With no bad blood and a strong legacy behind them, Kodaline’s final chapter looks set to be a fitting farewell.
