MIRANDA Hart could be heading back to prime-time TV, with reports claiming she has held talks with BBC bosses about a possible role on Strictly Come Dancing.
Hart is being considered for a presenting spot similar to the one previously held by Claudia Winkleman, bringing her trademark humour to the area where contestants unwind after their performances.
BBC insiders reportedly see Hart as a strong fit thanks to her warm comic style and long-standing connection with the broadcaster.
“Miranda signing for Strictly would be a massive coup for the BBC,” a source told The Sun.
“The feeling is that her style of comedy is very similar to Claudia’s sense of humour, making her a perfect replacement.
“She’s also one of very few people in the entertainment world who is widely known and recognised by just her first name.
“Bosses talked about Miranda working with the main presenters but her job would be talking to the celebs, dancers and judges.
“They want someone who can bring a comedy element to the role.
“Miranda has been loyal to the BBC throughout her TV career.”
Hart has spoken openly in the past about her affection for Strictly and was a visible supporter during the 2024 series, especially while cheering on her friend Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola.
She also appeared in rehearsal-room segments and social media clips tied to the show, which fuelled fan excitement about a bigger future role.
The comedian and actress, best known for Miranda and Call the Midwife, has made fewer TV appearances in recent years after revealing her struggles with chronic fatigue linked to Lyme disease.
Her most recent TV appearance came in 2025 on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.
The BBC has not confirmed any presenting lineup for Strictly Come Dancing 2026, saying plans will be announced in due course.
