Key Points
- Scrapped Valencia concert after overnight hotel noise left him unable to perform
- Called the stay unbearable, saying it rendered him catatonic
- Latest in a series of canceled or postponed shows, despite his 14th solo album release
MORRISSEY canceled his scheduled concert in Valencia, Spain, after saying a sleepless night at his hotel left him unable to perform.
In a post on his official “Messages From Morrissey” blog, the singer said the March 12 show at Palau de les Arts was called off due to sleep deprivation after travel from Milan.
According to the statement, Morrissey was unable to rest because of ongoing noise at the hotel, including festival sounds, loud music and megaphone announcements.
Another post described the stay as “indescribable hell” and said the experience left him in a “catatonic state.”
The canceled concert is the latest in a string of disrupted appearances for the singer. Earlier this year, Morrissey postponed a Rancho Mirage, California, performance due to an adverse reaction to prescription medication, and a San Diego show was also canceled.
In 2025, he called off additional dates, including shows in Stockholm, Boston and Connecticut, citing financial support issues and a reported security threat.
Despite the setback, Morrissey recently released his 14th solo album, “Make Up Is a Lie,” adding a bright note for fans following the latest tour news.
Why This Matters
Morrissey's Valencia cancellation highlights ongoing concerns about artist wellbeing, tour reliability and fan disappointment—showing how logistics, venue conditions and health can derail performances during a streak of disruptions, even as he promotes a new album.
