NICOLE “Snooki” Polizzi is opening up about a deeply personal health battle.
The Jersey Shore star, 38, revealed via TikTok on Friday, February 20, that she has been diagnosed with stage I cervical cancer. While the news was emotional, she reassured fans that doctors caught it early.
“Obviously not the news that I was hoping for,” Snooki shared. “But also not the worst news, just because they caught it so early.”
The reality TV personality explained that after years of abnormal Pap smear results, a recent biopsy confirmed the diagnosis.
She stressed that routine screenings ultimately led to early detection — a message she passionately encouraged her followers to take seriously.
“That’s why I’m literally telling you guys to get your Pap smears done,” she said. “I’m 38 years old. I’ve been struggling with abnormal Pap smears for like, three, four years now. And now look at me… it’s only stage I and it’s curable.”
Snooki first underwent a colposcopy, a procedure used to examine the cervix more closely and remove abnormal tissue for testing. She later had a cone biopsy, during which surgeons removed a cone-shaped section of tissue from her cervix. Fortunately, doctors found clear margins around the tumor, meaning the cancer has not spread beyond the cervix.
Her next step is a PET scan to determine whether the cancer has spread elsewhere in her body. Depending on the results, she says she will likely undergo a hysterectomy.
“The oncologist said you can either do chemo, radiation or the hysterectomy,” she explained. “Obviously, I think the smart choice here is the hysterectomy. I’ll still keep my ovaries, which is a good sign, but the hysterectomy — got to get the cervix and the uterus out and then possibly lymph nodes.”
Despite the uncertainty, Snooki is remaining optimistic.
“Could be very much worse,” she said.
The MTV alum shares three children — Lorenzo, Giovanna and Angelo — with husband Jionni LaValle, and admitted that the thought of major surgery has been scary.
“The thought of getting a hysterectomy is sad and it’s scary,” she said in a previous video. “I’ll do whatever to keep me healthy and safe to be here for my kids. It’s just scary.”
As she moves forward with treatment, Snooki has promised to keep fans updated and to remain open about her journey, encouraging others facing similar diagnoses to share their stories.
By speaking out, she hopes to turn a frightening diagnosis into a powerful reminder: early detection can save lives.
