CAMERON Diaz has revealed why she stepped away from Hollywood for ten years just as she prepares for a highly anticipated movie comeback.

The actress, who retired in 2014, called her time away “the best 10 years of my life” during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

She explained that the break gave her peace and a chance to live life on her own terms, focusing on being a wife and mother.

Diaz married Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden in 2015 and has since welcomed two children, making family her priority.

A source told the RadarOnline website that Diaz needed to step away from the relentless pressure of A-list stardom to concentrate on her loved ones.

The 53-year-old star also branched out professionally, launching the organic wine brand Avaline and writing bestselling health books.

Jonah Hill, who directed Diaz in the new film Outcome, praised her presence, saying, “Cameron is an actual angel that fell from heaven.

When she came on the screen, we knew we were making a real movie.” Diaz is set to reprise her iconic role as Princess Fiona in Shrek 5 and has recently finished filming the action-comedy Bad Day.

A source added that Diaz now manages her career on her own terms, choosing projects she truly enjoys without letting acting define her life.

Her return marks a fresh chapter for the star, balancing family life with a renewed passion for acting.
