SUPERSTAR Cher was left speechless after discovering she has a 15-year-old granddaughter following a brief romance between her son Elijah Allman and Kayti Edwards.

Kayti, who lives in Joshua Tree, California, revealed she broke the news to Cher during an emotional phone call last June.

“Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess,” Kayti said.

Why This Matters

Cher’s sudden discovery of a 15-year-old granddaughter matters because it reframes a public icon’s private family life, highlights addiction’s ripple effects across generations, and shows potential for reconciliation and healing amid intense public scrutiny.

Cher had heard rumours from Elijah back in 2021 but wasn’t sure if they were true.

“When she heard the news, she was speechless,” Kayti added.

The granddaughter, Ever, was born after a short relationship between 49-year-old Elijah and Kayti, who is a mother of four.

Kayti explained Elijah always knew about Ever but never wanted to be a parent.

“He would pop in every couple of years but would just say hello,” she said.

Elijah’s history of drug addiction became public after Cher filed for an emergency conservatorship in 2023, citing his mental health struggles.

The family drama intensified when Elijah overdosed again in 2022, leading Cher to reach out to Kayti for clarity.

Since then, Cher has been building a relationship with Ever, inviting mother and daughter to her Malibu home last September.

“Cher was lovely and kind and we had dinner,” Kayti said.

“She asked Ever if she wanted to see her closet and showed her a pair of jeans she had worn in concert.”

Cher’s playful side shone through as she chatted with Ever about school and boys, even joining in on pool games.

The Believe singer has previously expressed her wish to be a grandmother, making this discovery all the more poignant.

Kayti says Cher is still processing the news but is making genuine efforts to connect.

“Cher sent her a Christmas card and present. It was a Chrome Hearts hoodie,” Kayti revealed.

For Ever’s birthday, Cher sent money and matching sweats, and they have spoken on the phone.

Kayti insists the relationship is developing naturally without pressure.

“Elijah and his wife always said Cher didn’t want to be a grandma and to keep Ever away, so I was nervous to introduce her, but it’s been nothing but a good experience,” she said.

Elijah’s health remains fragile, and both Kayti and Cher hope he recovers to be part of Ever’s life.

“He needs to get back to being the guy I once knew, and Cher agrees. We need to get him better,” Kayti concluded.

For now, Cher’s new role as a grandmother is unfolding quietly, with family dynamics still finding their footing.
