RICHARD Gere is reportedly feeling ‘secretly embarrassed’ after his son Homer Gere became an unexpected social media sensation following a shirtless cameo on HBO’s Euphoria.
The 26-year-old actor appeared in the seventh episode of the latest season, playing television heartthrob Dylan Reid opposite Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie.
Homer’s shirtless kitchen scene quickly went viral, with fans praising his natural, ‘regular’ physique instead of the usual sculpted Hollywood look.
However, sources told Radar Online that Richard, 76, privately struggles with the attention Homer is getting for flaunting a less polished body type.
The veteran star, known for his leading man status in films like American Gigolo, reportedly believes actors should maintain a fit appearance.
“Richard comes from a different Hollywood era. He spent decades being seen as the ultimate leading man and always took pride in staying toned,” said an insider.
“He’s secretly embarrassed that Homer is being celebrated for looking flabby rather than fit.”
Fans on social media welcomed Homer’s confident, natural look, with comments like, “This is the type of men we like to see, not all that steroid and looksmaxing gymrat stuff,” and “It’s the confidence that makes him sexy.”
Another source revealed Richard’s mixed feelings about Homer’s sudden fame, adding, “Richard is proud Homer is getting attention as an actor, but he’s uneasy it’s through one of television’s most controversial shows and because of jokes about his body.”
Homer himself described his role as “jumping into the deep end in a really cool way,” calling it his “first real set experience.”
Euphoria has drawn criticism for its graphic content, but the show continues to spark debate and spotlight new talent — including Homer Gere, who’s making his own mark, even if it’s causing a bit of private discomfort for his famous dad.
