Michael Jackson Estate Pushes Back After Paris Jackson Criticises ‘Michael’ Biopic

A NEW dispute has emerged around the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, ‘Michael,’ as Paris Jackson publicly raised concerns about the film and the management of her father’s estate — and the estate’s legal team is firmly rejecting her claims.

According to court filings, Paris Jackson questioned several decisions tied to the movie, including the estate’s financial involvement and production choices.

She reportedly criticised executor John Branca’s role as an executive producer and took issue with the casting of Miles Teller as Branca, suggesting the decision may not make financial sense.

Paris also expressed concern over reports of expensive reshoots and the scale of the film’s budget.

Beyond the biopic itself, Paris also challenged the broader financial stewardship of the estate by executors John Branca and John McClain, pointing to their compensation and alleging estate funds were used on risky ventures.

The estate’s response was swift. Attorneys for Branca and McClain called Paris’ allegations false and without merit, arguing that the executors have a long record of successful Michael Jackson-related projects, including stage productions and documentary work.

They also defended the decision to pursue a major feature film about Jackson’s life, saying it would be irresponsible not to explore a project of that scale given the global interest in his legacy.

Attorney Jonathan Steinsapir said Paris and her legal team were using the courts and media to revive issues that had already been addressed.

He maintained that the estate has acted properly and emphasised that the executors helped transform Michael Jackson’s finances from severe debt into a business worth billions.

The clash adds another layer of drama to anticipation surrounding ‘Michael,’ which remains one of the most closely watched music biopics in development.
