KYLIE Minogue has opened up about her private fight with cancer for the second time, revealing she kept her 2021 diagnosis under wraps while making a major career comeback.
The 57-year-old singer disclosed the devastating news in the latest episode of her Netflix documentary, KYLIE, admitting she was a “shell of a person” and struggled to find the right moment to share her battle with fans.
Unlike her first cancer diagnosis in 2005, which played out in the public eye, Kylie chose to keep this second ordeal secret for five years, even as she was releasing new music and performing.
Her 2023 hit single, Padam Padam, which became the anthem of the summer and won a Grammy, was launched while she was still privately fighting the disease.
She explained, “Padam Padam opened so many doors for me but on the inside I knew that cancer wasn’t just a blip in my life.”
Kylie also revealed that her song Story, from her sixteenth album Tension, was inspired by this hidden health struggle, with lyrics reflecting her experience.
She described the isolation she felt, saying, “I didn’t want to leave the house again at one point,” highlighting how deeply the diagnosis affected her.
Despite the challenges, Kylie is now ready to share her story openly, hoping it will help her finally move on from this chapter.
The documentary sheds new light on the resilience behind her recent success, showing a side of the pop icon few have seen before.
Her candid revelation adds a poignant layer to her career renaissance, proving her strength both on and off the stage.
