A REAL-life candy caper is making headlines after more than 400,000 KitKat bars were reportedly stolen during transit across Europe.
According to Nestle, the missing haul included 413,793 bars from the brand’s latest crunch range, all packed into a 12-ton shipment that disappeared while traveling from central Italy to Poland.
The company says the stolen truck and its chocolate-filled cargo are still missing, and the timing has raised concerns about possible shortages in stores ahead of Easter.
Nestle confirmed it is working with local authorities and supply chain partners as the investigation continues.
In a statement, a spokesperson added a playful twist to the serious situation, saying the thieves may have taken KitKat’s famous “have a break” slogan a little too literally.
Nestle also warned that the missing bars could show up through unofficial sales channels in European markets. Each wrapper reportedly carries batch codes that can help trace the products if they are scanned.
This isn’t the first unusual KitKat theft to grab attention. A previous case involved a shipment of rare Japanese KitKat flavours that went missing in the United States before later being found tied up in a storage-fee scam.
For now, the chocolate mystery remains unsolved, with shoppers and sweet-toothed fans watching closely to see whether the Easter candy supply will take a hit.
