KIM Kardashian’s shapewear brand SKIMS has hit back hard after its clothing shipment was caught up in a major cocaine smuggling case in England.
A SKIMS spokesperson told TMZ, “SKIMS is aware of the recent news involving a shipment with our products.
“We want to be absolutely clear: SKIMS had no knowledge whatsoever about this criminal activity.
“We had no connection to the smuggling operation, the driver, or the truck.”
The scandal unfolded when Jakub Jan Konkel was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court for trafficking cocaine.
Konkel transported a trailer truck loaded with 28 pallets of SKIMS clothing from The Netherlands to England last September.
Border Force officers searched the trailer at the Port of Harwich and found 90 packages of cocaine hidden near the rear doors, with an estimated street value of around £7.6 million.
Officials stressed the SKIMS merchandise itself was entirely legal and was simply used as cover to smuggle the drugs.
Konkel initially denied any involvement but later admitted to agreeing to smuggle the cocaine for about £4,300 before pleading guilty in court.
SKIMS’s swift denial aims to distance the brand from the criminal activity and reassure customers it was not complicit in the smuggling.
The case highlights how legitimate shipments can be exploited by traffickers, leaving brands like SKIMS caught in the crossfire.
