KIEFER Sutherland has pulled the plug on the US leg of his tour after ticket sales flopped spectacularly.
The Lost Boys star took to Instagram on Friday to break the news, saying, “With great disappointment I am going to have to cancel the US leg of my tour due to very low ticket sales.”
He added, “I don’t think it’s fair to the people who have bought tickets, or the venues, to play to have empty houses.” \
Fans were directed to his website for updates on upcoming gigs and refunds.
The 59-year-old actor and musician, who’s set to tour the UK and Ireland soon, expressed hope to return to US stages when the timing is better.
Some fans praised his honesty, with one commenting, “I really appreciate your honesty and the fact that you don’t use illness as an excuse. That makes you even more likeable.”
Others pointed to economic struggles as a factor, noting, “People are struggling to buy basic things to live right now.”
Sutherland’s previous tour cancellations include a 2019 European run cut short by a rib injury.
He’s also gearing up to release his fourth album, Grey, on May 29, describing the new songs as a more personal take on his life experiences.
Despite recent legal troubles following a January arrest, Sutherland remains focused on his music career.
The cancellation follows a trend this year, with artists like Post Malone and The Pussycat Dolls also scrapping North American shows due to poor ticket sales.
For now, Kiefer’s US fans will have to wait a little longer to catch him live.
