JENNIFER Garner has opened up about how her acting career took a backseat during the upheaval of her divorce from Ben Affleck.
The actress told InStyle she “hardly worked for a long time” while juggling family challenges and the split.
Garner, who shares three children with Affleck, said she worked very little when her kids were young and during the family turmoil.
She hinted the break was linked not only to their split but also Affleck’s battle with addiction.

“To have this year and a half where I just indulged [in acting], because this job is very selfish,” she explained, adding it’s tough to balance filming with parenting.
The 54-year-old expressed gratitude for returning to work now her children are older and family life has calmed.
She also spoke candidly about the sacrifices of co-parenting, describing how she and Affleck have taken on roles of both mom and dad across two households.
“There’s a little bit of loss in that, but there’s also something gained in that,” Garner said on Bustle’s podcast earlier this year.
Despite their highly publicised split, the former couple have maintained an amicable relationship and continue to co-parent closely.
Affleck dismissed negative tabloid reports about their divorce, stating on the Howard Stern Show that they “grew apart” and ended things respectfully.
The exes were recently spotted together in Los Angeles, showing their ongoing cooperation for the sake of their family.
Garner’s reflections reveal how personal upheaval can stall even the most successful careers — but also how resilience and family come first.
