JAMIE Lee Curtis is officially stepping into one of TV’s most iconic mystery roles.
Universal has confirmed that the Oscar winner will play Jessica Fletcher in a big-screen reboot of Murder, She Wrote, with the film set for release on 22 December 2027.
Curtis, known for Halloween and Everything Everywhere All at Once, had been linked to the project for months and previously shared her excitement while promoting Freakier Friday. Now, the reboot is officially moving forward.
The film will be directed by Pitch Perfect and Sisters filmmaker Jason Moore, with a script from Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, the writers behind Dumb Money.
Jessica Fletcher was originally played by Angela Lansbury in the beloved CBS series, which ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996 and drew huge weekly audiences at its peak.
Lansbury, who died in 2022, had previously voiced concerns about earlier reboot ideas tied to the Murder, She Wrote name.
Curtis is currently also appearing with Nicole Kidman in Amazon’s crime thriller Scarpetta and was recently seen in the thriller Sender alongside Britt Lower.
With a major star, a theatrical release date, and a fresh creative team in place, Murder, She Wrote is heading back into the spotlight for a new generation.
