JAKE Reiner has given a raw account of the moment he discovered his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, had been murdered.

In a heartfelt Substack essay, Jake described being at a celebration of life for a friend when his sister Romy called with the devastating news.

“I was in Union Station at a celebration of life for one of my best friends, Christian Anderson, who died in October,” he wrote.

“It was at that moment I received a call from my sister Romy telling me our father was dead.

“Minutes later, she called back telling me our mother was also dead.”

He recalled the agonising 45-minute Lyft ride home, feeling his world collapse.

“My world, as I knew it, had collapsed. I was in a trance. The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home.

“I needed to get to my sister.

“I needed to figure out what the hell just happened.”

Jake, 34, said he feels “robbed of so many things” by the tragedy, which “simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me.”

“Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time,” he added.

“It’s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream.

“This truly is my living nightmare.”

Rob and Michele were murdered at their Brentwood home on December 14, 2025.

Their son Nick, 32, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder but pleaded not guilty.

Jake expressed deep sympathy for his parents’ fear during the attack.

“They were the last people in the world to deserve what happened to them. They should be enjoying the rest of their lives peacefully while growing older together.

“Instead, that was ripped away from them, from me, from Romy, and there was nothing we could do about it.”

He described the murders as “horrific” and said every day since has been “horrendous.”

Jake acknowledged his brother Nick is “at the center” of the tragedy and admitted the loss is almost impossible to process.

He promised some questions will be answered in time but insisted some parts must remain private to protect what little remains of their family.

Sharing the essay on Instagram one week before his first birthday without his parents, Jake said, “I consider myself lucky to have had them by my side for the past 34 years.”
