Key Points

  • Heated, non-physical exchange between Justin Bieber and Usher at Chateau Marmont after-party, eyewitnesses report
  • Source says confrontation stemmed from Bieber distancing himself from early-career connections, warning Usher
  • Neither artist has commented publicly; fans and outlets now question the future of their mentor-mentee relationship

JUSTIN Bieber and Usher are reportedly at the centre of a brand new feud.

It comes after a new report claimed the former mentor and mentee had a heated exchange at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s star-packed after-party at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

The interaction did not become physical, but eyewitnesses described it as intense.

The alleged disagreement was said to stem from Usher confronting Bieber, amid claims that Justin – who’s still one of the world’s richest musicians – has been distancing himself from people connected to his earlier career, according to Radar Online.

And a source tells Pop Quest: “It’s true. Justin is moving forward with his life, and is looking to leave the past in the past.

“Anyone connected to his early days… he doesn’t want anything to do with. Usher is only just getting the message.”

The bash in question drew a major celebrity crowd, including Hailey Bieber, Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Jacob Elordi, Teyana Taylor, Vin Diesel, Sofia Vergara, Austin Butler, Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Jon Batiste, Chloe Bailey, and Vanessa and Natalia Bryant.

Usher has previously spoken warmly about Bieber, including in a 2024 interview where he said there was “no love lost” after Bieber declined to join him for a Super Bowl performance. He also predicted that Bieber would one day headline the event himself.

Their relationship goes back to Bieber’s early rise to fame. After Bieber’s YouTube videos took off in 2007, Usher and Scooter Braun helped guide his career, with Usher later recalling how strongly he believed in the young star during a competitive signing process.

While neither Bieber nor Usher has publicly addressed the reported Oscars after-party exchange, the claim has sparked fresh interest in where their longtime relationship stands today.

Why This Matters

The clash highlights shifting dynamics between pop icons and their mentors, signaling Bieber's effort to reshape his image and network while raising questions about loyalty, power, and influence in the music industry — and how public narratives are rewritten.
