HOWIE Mandel had a tense-but-playful moment with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos during a March 24 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark while discussing his recent 70th birthday.
After Ripa congratulated the America’s Got Talent judge and said his age “doesn’t make any sense,” Mandel questioned what she meant and pushed back on compliments about how young he looks.
Consuelos tried to smooth things over by telling Mandel he looks great, but Mandel joked that comments like that can sound like a backhanded compliment.
The audience laughed as he compared it to telling someone they seem smart “for a stupid person.”
Ripa clarified that she simply meant he looks great and doesn’t seem 70.
Mandel eventually lightened the mood by agreeing that he looks “gorgeous” and then shared details about his intense pool workout routine, which he said was inspired by Jerry O’Connell.
