EMILY Osment is setting the record straight about why fans won’t see her in the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special.
The actress, who famously played Lilly Truscott alongside Miley Cyrus on the Disney Channel hit, shared on Instagram that she was unable to join the reunion because she was busy filming her current CBS series, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
In a video with her costar Montana Jordan, Osment explained that the anniversary of Hannah Montana’s March 24, 2006 premiere arrived while they were still hard at work on set.
Why This Matters
Osment’s absence highlights how the cast has grown into new careers while reaffirming her affection for the series, offering fans closure that scheduling—not distance—keeps her from the reunion and underscoring Hannah Montana’s enduring cultural impact.
Even though she couldn’t appear in the special, Osment made it clear she still has a deep love for the series and its fans.
She thanked viewers for continuing to support Hannah Montana over the years and reflected on how much the show changed her life.
Osment said the series taught her valuable lessons about comedy, discipline and working in television at a young age. She also shared her gratitude for being part of what she called a once-in-a-generation TV phenomenon.
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres March 24 on Disney+ and Hulu, with Miley Cyrus looking back on her breakout role in a conversation with Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper. Selena Gomez and Chappell Roan are also set to appear.
While Osment may be missing from the special, her message to fans was full of appreciation and heart, proving her Hannah Montana bond is still as strong as ever.
