SAMSUMG has hit back after pop superstar Dua Lipa launched an £11million lawsuit accusing the tech giant of using her image without permission.
The British singer claims her face was plastered on the packaging of Samsung TVs without her consent, damaging her high-profile brand.
Samsung insists it acted in good faith, saying it was told by a third-party content provider that permission had been granted.
A company spokesperson said, “The image was only used after receiving explicit assurance that permission had been secured.”
They added that Samsung is “open to a constructive resolution with Ms Lipa’s team.”
The photo at the centre of the dispute was taken backstage at a Texas music festival in 2024.
Dua, 30, is one of the world’s biggest pop stars, boasting three Grammys and a net worth north of £100million.
She fronts major campaigns including Nespresso alongside George Clooney, Yves Saint-Laurent beauty, Porsche and Puma.
The legal battle shines a spotlight on the complexities of celebrity image rights and marketing in the digital age.
For now, the case remains unresolved as both sides weigh their next moves.
