DENISE Richards has opened up about the heartbreak of losing her longtime friend and ex-boyfriend Patrick Muldoon.
The actress shared a touching Instagram message, describing Muldoon as her “best friend & my family” after his death from a heart attack at 57.
Richards recalled how they met in acting class as young hopefuls and how their friendship spanned more than 30 years.
She praised his talent, humility, and infectious spirit, saying, “You lit up every room you walked into.”
Their bond remained unbreakable through years of ups and downs, with Richards calling him her “voice of reason & pillar of strength.”
The pair dated on and off in the late ’90s but stayed close, even co-starring in projects years later.
Richards’ tribute highlighted the rare loyalty and support they shared, calling his loss “so hard for me to put into words.” Muldoon’s manager echoed the sentiment, remembering him as “endlessly generous” and someone who made others feel safe and seen.
Despite past romances and life changes, their friendship endured, showing the deep connection they maintained.
Richards ended her message with a poignant promise to look for signs that Muldoon’s spirit is still near, signing off with, “I love you so much & miss you dearly schweetbabe.”
