DANICA Patrick is sharing more about a deeply personal health journey, revealing that complications she associates with her breast implants led to years of serious symptoms before she had them removed in 2022.
In a recent interview with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, the former racing star said she got breast implants in 2014 and began noticing troubling changes about three years later.
According to Patrick, those early issues eventually turned into what she described as a full-blown health crisis.
Patrick said she experienced weight gain, hair loss, inflammation, exhaustion, and poor recovery, even as she continued pushing herself physically.
She recalled that during that period she ran the Boston Marathon, but said her health struggles made the experience extremely difficult.
After consulting multiple doctors and trying different approaches to find answers, Patrick ultimately decided to have the implants removed in 2022.
Since then, she has spoken publicly about her experience and encouraged more openness around the potential risks tied to cosmetic procedures.
Patrick has also reflected on why she chose implants in the first place, saying she believed they were safe and thought they would help her feel more feminine and confident. Over time, though, she said that perspective changed as her health issues worsened.
The update comes shortly after Patrick also addressed her departure from Sky Sports F1 coverage.
In a social media post earlier this month, she said she had a great experience with the network over five years and shared that she had decided after the 2025 season that it was time to move on.
While Patrick’s comments centre on a difficult chapter, her decision to speak candidly adds to a broader conversation about health, recovery, and informed choices.
