CHERYL Cole has launched a heartfelt campaign to protect her young son Bear from the harsh realities online following the tragic death of his father Liam Payne.

The singer, 42, is backing the Raise The Age campaign, urging the UK government to raise the minimum social media age to 16.

Cheryl called out social media as “addictive, emotionally destroying and mentally damaging,” especially for vulnerable youngsters facing mental health struggles.

She warned of the dangers just days before a crucial House of Commons vote on April 22, 2026.

An insider revealed Cheryl’s fight is deeply personal, driven by fear Bear could stumble upon distressing details about Liam’s 2024 death in a hotel balcony accident.

“For Cheryl, this is not abstract or political – it is about protecting her son from encountering distressing information before he is ready,” the source told Radar Online.

In an emotional Instagram video, Cheryl said: “I back this campaign a million per cent, and I cannot see a reasonable argument for the opposite.”

She highlighted the mental health toll on youth, some of whom have tragically taken their own lives.

Cheryl’s campaign has drawn support from other stars including Simon Cowell’s fiancée Lauren Silverman, who called it a “pivotal moment” for the generation.

The singer’s concerns go beyond her family, aiming to shield a whole generation from harmful online content they aren’t equipped to handle.

Cheryl urged the public to push lawmakers to act, saying: “It’s for our government to stand up and do the right thing to protect our youth. They’ll thank us in the future.”

With backing from celebrities like Rochelle Humes and Megan McKenna, the campaign is gathering momentum ahead of the vote.

For Cheryl, the fight is clear – to give Bear the chance to understand his father’s legacy away from the harsh glare of social media speculation.
