Bonnie Tyler Recovers After Emergency Bowel Surgery in Portugal
Key Points
BONNIE Tyler has been rushed to hospital in Portugal where she underwent emergency bowel surgery, sources reveal.
The Welsh singer, 74, was treated in Faro after suffering a perforated intestine that caused severe abdominal pain.
Insiders say the Total Eclipse Of The Heart star is now stable and recovering well following the operation.
A spokesman confirmed: ‘We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery.’
‘The surgery went well and she is now recuperating.’
Bonnie’s family, friends and fans are sending their best wishes for a full and swift recovery.
The singer, who has owned a property in the Algarve since the early 1980s, was due to start her European tour later this year.
Earlier this year, Bonnie mentioned knee pain as her main health concern but insisted she was fit and enjoying performing.
She told Hello: “I’m fit enough at the moment, touch wood, and I’m really enjoying doing the shows.”
Bonnie and her husband Robert Sullivan, a former Olympian judoka, split their time between Portugal and south Wales.
The couple famously rebuilt their Algarve villa with floor-to-ceiling glass to take in the sea views.
Despite this health scare, Bonnie’s determination to keep performing remains clear as she recuperates in Portugal.
