Amanda Holden rules herself out of Strictly hosting gig

Key Points
- Advocates keeping two female hosts, calling it a "wonderful moment" for Saturday night.
- Urges producers to choose unexpected, super-funny hosts rather than predictable names.
- Says hardworking women in the industry deserve breaks and more high-profile opportunities.
AMANDA Holden insists she won’t be replacing Tess and Claudia on Strictly — because she’s too busy with BGT.
The telly favourite, 55, and her showbiz pal Alan Carr were tipped to be in talks for the gig following the huge success of their BBC show Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job.
But Amanda is adamant she won’t be taking on the role, as she’d rather be a dedicated Strictly viewer than host… and her family come first!
“You see, I am already part of a big show, and I’ll happily carry on watching Strictly from the comfort of my lounge, but it takes up too many weekends, I’ve got to remember that I have children and a husband,” she told Mail Online.
“But I just hope that they still have two females doing it, that’s my big thing. They need somebody super funny, and somebody that you wouldn’t expect.
“It’s a really amazing job to sort of break two people that we might know but don’t know that well and push them up into the spotlight.
“There are so many people and women in our industry without getting too political who have put all the work in, all the hours in, who deserve a bloody break, so often when I see lots of names attached to it, I think, boring, boring, boring, they’re all brilliant people but you go, oh come on, think outside the box'”.
“It’s a really wonderful moment to put two strong women in a role on a Saturday night.”
